Includes a selection of Chen Yun's Important Articles on China's New Democratic Revolution, on Socialist Modernization Construction and Reform. Compiled by the Editorial Committee for Party Literature, attached to Central Committee of the CPC, published by Central Publishing House. Selected Works of Chen Yun (1926-1949) was published in 1984 and renamed as Vol. 1 of Selected Works of Chen Yun when the second edition was published in 1995. Selected Works of Chen Yun (1949-1956) was published in 1984 and renamed Selected Works of Chen Yun Vol. 2 when the second edition was published in 1995. Selected Works of Chen Yun (1956-1985) was published in 1986 and renamed as Vol. 3 of Selected Works of Chen Yun when the second edition was published in 1995. In the second edition , the time limit for the documents contianed in the book was extended to 1994. Selected Works of Chen Yun Vol. 1 covers 55 works of Chen Yun between July 1926 and June 1949. It covers Party building, cadre contingent building, revolutionary base area building, Party work in the White Areas and other aspects.

Selected Works of Chen Yun Vol. 2 covers 52 works of Chen Yun between August 1949 and July 1956, and is an important work during the period from the founding of the People's Republic of China to the basic completion of the socialist transformation of private capitalist ownership. Basically, it discusses the financial and economical issues such as overcoming inflation, stabilizing the prices, unifying financial and economic work, and others. Selected Works of Chen Yun Vol. 3 covers 83 works of Chen Yun between September 1956 and February 1994. This volume is divided into three periods: First, between September 1956 to March 1962, when China's socialist transformation was basically completed and when the large-scale socialist construction began, but socialist construction encountered serious setbacks. Important contents include opinions and suggestions for improving the economic system and economic management. Many works of him have played an important role in overcoming the serious difficulties and reversed the negative situation at that time. Second period, when he assisted Premier Zhou Enlai in the foreign trade work in the late period of the “Cultural Revolution”. Third period, includes works in the post — “Cultural Revolution” period, i.e., the period of re-establishing and implementing the correct ideological, political and organizational lines. The third volume covers those works concerning guiding and promoting the Party to realize the great historical turning point, includes his efforts of comprehensively adjusting the disproportionate national economy in an all-round way, his efforts of carrying out the socialist modernization construction and reforming the socialist economic system in accordance with China's actual real conditions, etc.

Selected Works of Chen Yun is an important embodiment of Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory both of which constitute the collective wisdom of the Communist Party of China
