Selected Works of Marx and Engels

Four-volume literature collection of important works of Marx and Engels, selected and compiled by the Compilation and Translation Bureau of the Works of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It was published by the Renmin Publishing House in three editions, namely the 1972, 1995 and 2012 edition. In the latest third edition (i.e., the 2012 edition), the works included are arranged according to an approach that combines chronology and special topics, and the documents included all adopted the latest translations of the Collected Works of Marx and Engels, and have undergone another rigorous review.

Volume 1 is a selection of Marx and Engels’ works in 1843–1859, including 10 articles on the Chinese question and 2 articles on the Indian question, arranged in a separate and concentrated way. Volume 2 is a volume focused on Marxist political economy, including Marx’s Capital (selected sections) and Economic Manuscripts (selected manuscripts), and it also included four economic treatises by Marx and Engels. Volume 3 is a selection of Marx and Engels’ works in 1864–1883. Volume 4 is a selection of Engels’ works in 1884–1895, as well as 102 letters written by Marx and Engels in 1842–1895.

The publication and release of the Selected Works of Marx and Engels has pushed forward the spread and popularization of Marxism and provided materials and references for the study, mastery and application of Marxism.
