Edited by the Party Literature Research Office of the Central Committee of the CPC, Yang Shengqun and Yan Jianqi as chief editors, published by the Central Literature Publishing House in December 2009. The book consists of 3 volumes with 1.51 million characters. Based on a large number of documents and archives, the Chronicle accurately describes Deng Xiaoping's major experiences and activities from his youth to 1974, and reflects his achievements and great contributions to national independence, people's liberation and national prosperity in the periods of new democratic revolution and the period of socialist revolution and construction, and reflects the development of his thoughts in different periods and demonstrates the revolutionary spirit and noble character and style of him personally. This chronicle also reflects the development course of the new democratic revolution, socialist modernization construction led by the CPC, it provides an important reference for studying Deng Xiaoping's life, thoughts and achievements, the historical origins that affected the formation of Deng Xiaoping's theory, and also for studying the history of Chinese modernization construction and Reform.
