Selected Works of Liu Shaoqi

The Selected Works of Liu Shaoqi is divided into two volumes: the first and the second. It was edited by the Party Literature Editing Committee of the Central Committee of the CPC, and the People's Publishing House published the first volume in December 1981 and the second volume in December 1985.

The first volume contains Liu Shaoqi's writings before the founding of the PRC, covering important topics such as the workers' movement, trade union work, the Party's work in the White Areas, the leadership of the Anti-Japanese National United Front, the anti-Japanese guerrilla war, the anti-Japanese democratic power, the cultivation of Communists, the struggle within the Party, the general outline of the Party constitution and democratic centralism, the land issue during the Liberation War, urban work, and the approach to economic construction in New China.

The second volume contains Liu Shaoqi's writings after the founding of the PRC, covering important topics such as the industrialization of the country and the improvement of people's living standards, the land reform, the attitudes and methods of study, the conditions for Communist Party members, the Party's tasks on the publicity and ideological front, internal contradictions among the people, cooperatives, the transformation of industry and commerce, the Party unity, constitutional revisions, socialist transformation, socialist construction, national political life, the Party leadership, national economic restructuring, the lessons learned from socialist construction, education system and labor system, and the reform of the economic management system.

In his long revolutionary practice, Liu Shaoqi wrote a large number of articles, documents, telegrams, letters, and made many important speeches. What were included in the collection are only the most important part of it. The writings included in the collection, where Liu Shaoqi's life was publicly published, were maintained in their original form, only a small number of textual and historical corrections made; the speech transcripts were arranged.

The editing and publication of Selected Works of Liu Shaoqi is of great significance to the general readers in studying and researching Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought, the history of the Chinese revolution and construction led by the Party, and the life and thought of Liu Shaoqi.
