Selected Works of Li Xiannian

Edited by the Literature Research Office of the Central Committee of the CPC, published by Central Publishing House in January 1989. The book includes Li Xiannian’s 94 important articles, reports, speeches, talks and telegrams with a total of 360,000 characters made between 1935 and 1988, with a total of 360,000 characters, 75 of which were first time published to the public. The content of the book is divided into four periods. In the first period, 25 works between the Long March of the Red Army of Workers and Peasants to the liberation of the whole country (1949) were collected. The book reflects the arduous struggle and rich experience of the author in the period of the New Democratic Revolution.

As second period, 18 works between the period from the liberation of the whole country to 1954, were collected. The book reflects the author's efforts in leading local work, his works to achieve the recovery and development of the national economy, works to establish and consolidate the people's democratic regime, and to create conditions for socialist transformation and socialist construction. As third period 30 works covering the period between 1955 and 1978, i.e., the works before the Reform and Opening-up, were collected. It reflects the author's important opinions on planning, finance, business, commerce and foreign trade in the financial and economic work under the leadership of the central government. As the fourth period 21 works covering the period between 1979 to 1988, i.e., his works in the new period of Reform and Opening-up, were collected. The book reflects Li Xiannian's contribution in guiding the entire Party in realizing the historic great turn and economic adjustment and reform, and in exploring the laws of socialist economic construction with Chinese characteristics.
