Collected Works of Deng Xiaoping

Edited by the Editorial Committee for Party Literature attached to the Central Committee of the CPC and published by People's Publishing House in August 2014. A total of 406 articles of Deng Xiaoping's manuscripts between 1949 and 1974, were compiled in three volumes, which consists of more than 800,000 characters. The first volume is composed of 106 manuscripts covering between October 1949 and early August 1952. Vol. 2 is composed of 135 manuscripts covering between mid-August 1952 to September 1958. The Vol. 3 is composed of 165 manuscripts covering between January 1959 and November 1974. These manuscripts include speeches, reports, talks, articles, comments, letters, inscriptions, etc. They cover comments and remarks on the issues of economy, politics, culture, diplomacy, science and technology, education, military, ethnic issues, united front, Party building and others. Most of the manuscripts are published publicly for the first time, thus “Collected Works” becomes an important supplement to the Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping. They provide valuable materials for summarizing the historical experience of the governance by CPC during the period from the founding of the People's Republic of China to the Reform and Opening-up (1978), and for understanding and studying the exploration course of building socialism with Chinese characteristics.

This publication is of great significance for in-depth study of the Deng Xiaoping Theory, to understand the relationship between Deng Xiaoping Theory and Mao Zedong Thought which were derived from the same origin and for inheriting and developing them, and for enhancing our self-confidence in the path, theory and system of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
