Collected Works of Marx and Engels
Literature collection that includes important works of Marx and Engels, compiled and translated by the Compilation and Translation Bureau of the Works of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It is a key project of the Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project implemented by the CPC Central Committee, aiming to provide more accurate and informative basic texts for the in-depth study and research of Marxist theory. It was published by Renmin Publishing House in December 2009.
Collected Works of Marx and Engels, consisting of 10 volumes, compiles important representative works written by Marx and Engels at various historical phases. Its contents covers not only Marxist philosophy, political economy and scientific socialism, but also politics, law, history, science and technology, education, literature, art, nationality, religion and many other fields. In terms of format, it adopts an approach that combines chronology and separate volumes for important monographs. Volume 1 includes Marx and Engels’ works in 1843–1848; Volume 2 includes Marx and Engels’ works in 1848–1859; Volume 3 includes Marx and Engels’ works in 1864–1883; Volume 4 includes Marx and Engels’ works in 1884–1895; Volumes 5, 6 and 7 includes Volumes 1, 2 and 3 of Marx’s Capital; Volume 8 includes selected manuscripts of Marx’s Capital; Volume 9 includes Engels’ two monographs, Anti-Dühring and Dialectics of Nature; Volume 10 includes Marx and Engels’ selected letters, and is appended with a Chronicle of Major Events in the Life of Marx and Engels. The Compilation and Translation Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has carefully examined and revised all kinds of original materials in an effort to make them more accurate and rigorous.
Collected Works of Marx and Engels is a landmark achievement of Marxist theoretical research and theoretical construction, and an authoritative textbook for the numerous cadres and the masses to learn the classics of Marxism.
