Early Manuscripts of Mao Zedong

A thematic collection of writings of young Mao Zedong. It was edited by the Party Literature Research Office of the Central Committee of the CPC and the Editorial Group of the Early Manuscripts of Mao Zedong of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the CPC, and was published by Hunan Publishing House in 1990, which compiles the original documents left by the young Mao Zedong between June 1912 and November 1920, including articles, letters, reading annotations, chronicles, announcements, reports, notices, bulletins, telegrams, quotations, poems and classroom notes, etc., which have been found so far. There are 151 writings.

The Early Manuscripts of Mao Zedong records the arduous intellectual development of young Mao Zedong as he grew into the founder of Mao Zedong Thought. These early writings reflect the positive thinking of young Mao Zedong, his concern for the country and the people, his relentless pursuit of advancement and light, his spirit of constantly surpassing and conquering himself, and his search for the best way to finally turn to Marxism-Leninism and use it as an ideological weapon to save and transform China.

The contents of the Early Manuscripts of Mao Zedong are consistent with his early rich social experience and practice, so that they reproduce the social and practical life of young Mao Zedong in written form, which is the actual record of his spiritual life and intellectual journey. From the perspective of historical and logical unity, it is the early manuscripts of Mao Zedong that comes first, then the literature of Mao Zedong's party construction and revolutionary period, and then the four volumes of Selected Works of Mao Zedong and others come. Therefore, the Early Manuscripts of Mao Zedong is of great importance for the study of Mao Zedong's early thought and even his whole thought.
