Uphold the Party’s Leadership over the Ideological and Cultural Work
One of the important contents of Mao Zedong's cultural thought. Mao Zedong pointed out that, "in the seven spheres of industry, agriculture, commerce, education, military affairs, government and the Party, the Party leads everything. The Party should lead industry, agriculture, commerce, culture and education, the army and the government." Adhering to the Party's leadership over ideological and cultural work is the basic prerequisite for consolidating the guiding position of Marxism in the ideological field, ensuring the implementation of the Party's cultural principles and policies, and an important guarantee for promoting the prosperity and development of socialist culture. The Party's leadership of ideological and cultural work is mainly political, ideological and organizational. The Party guarantees the correct political orientation of cultural development by formulating correct lines, guiding principles and policies to be applied in the cultural sphere.
Through strengthening the leadership of various cultural organizations, and cultural workers, exerting the vanguard and exemplary role of Party members at all levels, all cultural workers can be influenced and motivated, and thus establishing a qualified contingent of cultural workers, and ensuring that the Party's leadership in the ideological and cultural fields remains firmly in the hands of Marxists. The Party's leadership of ideological and cultural work must respect the objective laws of ideological and cultural work and we should fully develop people's democracy; unite, attract and lead the broad masses to participate in the management of ideological and cultural fields, and we should ensure that ideological and cultural work reflects the production and life of the masses, and deliver the voice and appeal for cultural work on behalf of the people.
