Cultural Heritage Should Be Utilized Fully and Critically

A part of Mao Zedong's conversation with Cuban women's delegation and Ecuadorian cultural delegation on December 24, 1960, mainly concerning how to treat cultural heritage, is an important document of Mao Zedong's cultural thought. It was included in the Collected Works of Mao Zedong, Volume 8.

Mao Zedong pointed out in his conversation that the cultural heritage of China should be fully and critically utilized. The culture of China for thousands of years is mainly the culture of the feudal age, but not all of it is feudalism. We should distinguish feudalism from non-feudalism. Feudalism is not all bad, so we should pay attention to distinguishing between feudalism in different periods of its occurrence, development, and extinction. Feudalism is still in the process of development and occurrence, and it has a lot of things to do. The culture of anti-feudalism is better than that of feudalism, but it should also be used critically and differently.
