The Nineteenth Congress of the C.P.S.U.
The Nineteenth Congress of the C.P.S.U. was held in the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow from October 5 to 14, 1952.
12 delegates with voting rights and 167 specially invited delegates who had consultative rights attended the Congress, representing 6,013,259 party members and 868,886 candidate members. In addition, 44 representatives of the communist and the workers' parties from different places in the world also attended the Congress.
The General Assembly received and discussed the summary report of the Central Committee of the ACP (Bolshevik), which was presented by G. M. Malenkov. The summary report of the party’s Central Auditing Commission was read by P. G. Moskatov, directives of the Nineteenth Congress concerning the fifth five-year plan for the development of the USS.R. (51-55) were presented by M. Z. Saburov, and amendments to the rules of the ACP (Bolshevik) were read by N. S. Khrushchev., and adopted the corresponding Resolution. The Congress also heard Stalin's speech and Voroshilov's closing speech. The Congress summarized the activities of the Party and the struggles and victories of the people in the 13 years since the last Party Congress. The Congress adopted the decision to change the name of the party. Since then, the Party has been renamed "the Communist Party of the Soviet Union", C.P.S.U. for short. The Congress elected a Central Committee composed of 125 members and 111 candidate members and a Central Auditing Commission composed of 37 members.
