Communist Correspondence Committee
Communist organization founded by Marx and Engels in Brussels, Belgium, in early 1846. Its aim was to establish extensive contacts with socialists and advanced workers of various countries, spread scientific socialism, unite and educate the advanced members of the working class, and lay a solid foundation for the building of proletarian political parties ideologically and organizationally. Through the efforts of Marx and Engels, its branches were established successively in Paris, London, Hamburg, Leipzig and Silesia.
The activities of the Communist Correspondence Committee promoted the combination of scientific socialism with the workers’ movement, and contributed to the transformation the League of the Just. After the founding of the Communist League in 1847, the activities of the Communist Correspondence Committee ceased.
