The Sixth Plenary Session of the Thirteenth Central Committee of the CPC

It was convened in Beijing from March 9 to 12, 1990. In response to the situation of the weakened leadership of the Party which was exposed by the political turmoil of 1989, the Plenary Session deliberated and adopted the “Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Strengthening the Party's Ties with the People”. The Plenary Session was attended by 166 members of the Central Committee and its 103 alternate member as well as by the members of the Central Advisory Commission, members of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and by relevant comrades. Jiang Zemin and Li Peng made important speeches at the Plenary Session.
