The Sixth Plenary Session of the Eighteenth Central Committee of the CPC

It was convened in Beijing from October 24 to 27, 2016. The main agenda of the Plenary Session was to listened to and discuss Xi Jinping's Work Report entrusted by the Central Political Bureau, evaluated and approved the “Several Norms of Intra-Party Political Life under the New Situation” and the “Regulations on Supervision within the Communist Party of China”, and evaluated and approved the “Resolution on the Convening of the 19th National Congress of the Party”. Xi Jinping made a statement to the Plenary Session on the “Guidelines (Discussion Draft)” and “Regulations (Discussion Draft)”.

The Plenary Session fully approved the work of the Central Political Bureau since the Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th Party Central Committee; highly appreciated the achievements made by the Party in the overall strict governance; analyzed the situation and tasks facing the Party in a comprehensive and strict manner. Emphasized that strengthening and regulating political life within the Party and strengthening supervision within the Party is a common task of the whole Party, and the whole Pary must work together to put the tasks of strengthening and regulating political life within the Party and strengthening supervision within the Party into practice; put forward resolutely safeguard the authority of the Party Central Committee, to ensure that the whole Party to act, is the future and destiny of the Party and the country, is the fundamental interests of the people of all nationalities, and to strengthen and regulate the political life of the Party is an important goal.

The Plenary Session stressed that adherence to the leadership of the Party is, first of all, adherence to the centralized and unified leadership of the Party. The core of leadership is crucial for a country and a political Party. The whole Party must consciously maintain a high degree of ideological, political and operational consistency with the Party Central Committee. The Party's organizations at all levels, all Party members, especially senior cadres must look to the Party's Central Committee, to the Party's theory and line policy, to the Party's central decision deployment, to respond resolutely to what the Party Central Committee advocates, to implement what the Party Central Committee decides, and to follow the decisions of the Party Central Committee.

The Plenary Session called on all Comrades of the Party comrades to closely around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, firmly establish political awareness, think in big picture terms, follow the leadership core keep in alignment with and unswervingly safeguard the authority of the Party Central Committee and the centralized and unified leadership of the Party Central Committee, continue to strengthen rigorous governance of the Party, and work together to create a clean political ecology, to ensure that the Party unites and leads the people to continuously create a new situation in the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The Plenary Session decided that the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China will be held in Beijing in the second half of 2017.
