The Manuscripts of Mao Zedong since the Founding of the People's Republic of China (Volumes 1-13), edited in chronological order, contains three types of manuscripts by Mao Zedong from September 1949 to July 1976: firstly, manuscripts, including articles, instructions, directives, speech outlines, annotations, letters, poems, and texts written in paragraphs on documents; secondly, transcripts of speeches and conversations that were approved by him; and thirdly, other manuscripts that were approved by him and issued under his name.
A small number of these manuscripts have been published publicly, a relatively large number have been issued within the Party on a large or small scale, and some have not been issued. They contain judgments and views that have proved to be correct in practice, as well as judgments and views that have proved to be incorrect or not entirely correct in practice.
The Manuscripts of Mao Zedong since the Founding of the People's Republic of China (Volumes 1-13) reflects, in a multi-dimensional manner, the major international and domestic political activities, issues thoughts, policies and theoretical views formed by Mao Zedong as the main leader of the Party and the state after the founding of New China, and historically records the difficult exploration and glorious journey of the CPC in leading the Chinese people to realize the transformation from New Democracy to Socialism and to build a strong socialist modern state.
The Manuscripts of Mao Zedong since the Founding of the People's Republic of China (Volumes 1-13) is of great significance for the cadres and theoreticians of the CPC to summarize the historical experience and lessons learned in the 27 years after the founding of New China and to deepen their understanding of the Party's line and theory of building socialism with Chinese characteristics since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of CPC.
