Heighten Our Vigilance, Defend the Motherland
Mao Zedong's address to the First Meeting of Delegates of People's Public Security Forces.
From August 10 to 20, 1953, the First Meeting of Delegates of the People’s Public Security Forces was held in Beijing. At the meeting, Luo Ruiqing conveyed Mao Zedong's inscription to all the delegates and showed the content of the inscription.
From then on, the slogan of "Heighten Our Vigilance, Defend the Motherland" was disseminated from the First Meeting of Delegates of People’s Public Security Forces to the national public security forces, to the whole army and to the whole country.
This slogan not only indicated the sacred duties and missions of the people’s public security forces, but also the duties and missions of the People's Liberation Army, militia and other parts of the people’s armed forces.
