Objectivity of Contradiction

The property inherently possessed by an objective thing. Matter is an objective reality independent of man’s consciousness. Contradiction is inherent in the motion of matter, not given by man’s subjective consciousness, not imposed on things from outside by men, nor does it come from any spirit outside the material world. Contradiction is inherent in the motion of matter, not given by man’s subjective consciousness, not imposed on things from outside by people, nor does it come from any spirit outside the material world. The existence of contradictions and their impacts are independent of man’s consciousness, neither will they disappear because people deny them, nor will they change the original situation because people wantonly exaggerate or understate them.

There are inherent contradictions in nature. When we examine things in terms of the motion, change and interaction of things, we immediately see that there are objective contradictions within things and processes themselves. Contradictions of the human society also exist objectively. In Capital, through an in-depth analysis of the objectively existing contradictory motion of the capitalist society, Marx has scientifically revealed the destiny of the inevitable downfall of capitalism. Contradictions in thinking are the reflection of contradictions in the objective world in the human brain, and have their material basis and objective premises, as well as their laws of motion and development. As a component part of the contradictory motion in the unified material world, contradictions in thinking also have objectivity. The process of development of the contradictions of things is objective, as are the conditions for their transformation and resolution.

Whether the objectivity of contradiction is acknowledged or is what differs materialist dialectics form idealist dialectics. Upholding the objectivity of contradictions is the premise for correctly dealing with contradictions, and is the key to establishing dialectical thinking on the basis of the materialist world outlook, which is of great significance for people to correctly know and change the world.
