Nature in Itself

Philosophical category corresponding to “humanized nature”. Nature that has not yet been changed by human practice, including the nature before the emergence of mankind and the nature that was untouched by human activity since the emergence of mankind refers to the category of nature in itself. Since nature is infinite in time and space, there will always be a nature in itself that human activity has not yet touched upon.

Nature in itself is independent of human activity, and its motion and changes are constituted by the interaction of unconscious, blind forces. Nature in itself is the presupposition for the existence and development of human activity. Through his practical activity, man impresses his will on the natural world and constantly transforms nature in itself into humanized nature. The process of the transformation of nature in itself into humanized nature is a constant process of human practice and development, a process closely connected with the development of man and society. Since human practice is developing historically, the difference between nature in itself and humanized nature is not fixed, immutable, but changing and developing.
