Patriots Who Support Socialism

It is term to denote the broad social class stratum which is composed of people who support the socialist system politically and devote themselves to socialist construction, which is included in the ranks of the patriotic united front in the new period of China.

Patriots who support socialism can be found in many social classes from all walks of life. The patriotic united front in the new era is the most extensive alliance which is led by the working class and based on the alliance of workers and peasants, including “all socialist workers”, “the builders of the socialist cause”, all patriots supporting socialism and all patriots who support the reunification of the motherland. In China, the united front has a glorious tradition of patriotism, has always possessed the nature of patriotism. The patriotic united front in the new era can be interpreted in two ways: In the broad sense and narrow sense. In the broad sense, it refers to patriots who support the reunification of the motherland, including those who support socialism; in a narrow sense, it refers to patriots who support the reunification of the motherland, especially those outside the mainland of China, including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao compatriots, as well as overseas Chinese.

The essence of the patriotic united front in the new era is to achieve the goal of the broadest unity of and the harmonious relations among all ethnic groups, all parties, social classes and compatriots at home and abroad. Building socialism with Chinese characteristics is the common ideal at this stage. It is a very arduous undertaking, which requires to unite all forces that can be united. The majority of the members of the united front are all socialist working people, builders of the cause of socialism, and patriots who support socialism, hence, the main body of the united front is socialist. Within the mainland, it is an alliance that unites all socialist working people, builders of the socialist cause and also includes patriots based on patriotism and socialism, which is the main body and foundation of the united front.
