Collected Military Manuscripts of Mao Zedong since the Founding of the People’s Republic of China
It was edited by the Documentary Research Office of the Central Committee of the CPC and the Military Academy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and published by the Central Document Press of the Military Science Publishing House in 2010. It is divided into three volumes: the first, the second, and the third contains a total of 821 articles on Mao Zedong's military theory, military strategy, national defense and army modernization from September 1949 to February 1976. It has precious historical value.
The first volume contains 373 writings, recording Mao's work from September 21, 1949 to December 30, 1951 in establishing New China, liberating the whole country, purging the remnants of the KMT army on the mainland, eliminating bandits, suppressing counter-revolution, fighting against the U.S. and aiding Korea, aiding Vietnam and fighting against France, and reorganizing and strengthening the army. The second volume contains 274 documents, recording the military work led by Mao from January 2, 1952 to December 10, 1958. The next volume contains 174 documents, starting and ending from January 21, 1959 to February 23, 1976, mainly covering the liberation of Taiwan and opposition to U.S. interference in the Taiwan Strait, assistance to Vietnam and resistance to the U.S., pacification of the rebellion in Xizang, handling of the Sino-Indian border conflict, opposition to U.S.-led imperialism, shifting the focus of military strategy from anti-U.S. to anti-Soviet after the Sino-Soviet border conflict, developing nuclear weapons to strengthen the army, strengthening the military system, and paying attention to militia construction and paying attention to the construction of militias, etc.
