Relations with Foreign Communist Parties
The communist parties of all countries, regardless of their length of history, regardless the number of party members they have and regardless of whether they are in power or not, should be equal and respect each other; there should never be any communist party who pursues "self-proclaimed big brother position” which attempts to lead the communist parties of other countries, which was Mao Zedong's basic approach in handling the party-to-party relations among the world’s communist parties. He believed that the communist party of each country should decide its affairs independently. "Each country should determine its principles and policies according to its own characteristics and integrate Marxism with its national conditions."
Since the Reform and Opening-up, the Communist Party of China has summed up its long-term experiences and lessons of handling the party-to-party relations with foreign communist parties and in the early 1980s, The CPC put forward the principle of "independence, complete equality, mutual respect and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs" in handling the party-to-party relations with foreign communist parties.
