Law of Value Is a Great School

A famous remark made by Mao Zedong in summing up the experience and lessons of the people's communization movement is also an important viewpoint of Mao Zedong's economic thought.

In the people's commune movement launched in 1958, there was a mistake of "Egalitarian and Free Allocation". On March 30, 1959, Mao Zedong annotated on the report of Tao Lu-Ch’ieh, the First Secretary of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee of the CPC, on the Five-Level Cadre Conference: “Only with old debts can we put into practice the objective law of value. This law is a great school and only by making use of it can we teach our several tens of millions of cadres and several hundred million people and build our socialism and communism. Otherwise, everything is impossible.”
